The South Forsyth football team seamed to have a bit of a chip on their shoulders and as time went on in the game at Clarke Central Friday night, the hurt from the 7-6 loss at North Oconee two weeks ago turned into steely resolve.  They would not be denied, matching the brilliant play of Glad quarterback Lucian Anderson III with  a solid offensive effort, and sacking him twice on the Glads final possession to lead to the victory formation in the end for Coach Troy Morris’ Road Eagles.  South last played at home on August 19th, a 28-0 shut out of Lanier High.   A win at Kennesaw Harrison and the painful loss to North Oconee in Buford followed by a bye week put a little pressure on this squad going in to this game.  They had two weeks to stew over it and it showed in their play.

Georgia legend Buck Belue stopped by in the pregame.  Buck’s sons Braden #39, a junior,  and Rhett, #69, a sophomore, are  War Eagles,   This was his first time back in Billy Henderson stadium since playing against that very Billy Henderson 46 years ago.  His Valdosta squad was playing Henderson and his Clarke County team in that stadium for the Georgia State Championship.  His recollections of the game and the time since are hilarious.  Buck’s interview with Greg Golden and Doug Thomas is within twenty minutes of the start of the podcast.

But that doesnt mean you can skip the replay!  No no no no no!

You can’t miss this game. There were contributions from everbody. And then some. Some new names are emerging, young men stepping up and making plays. One thing is bec being confirmed… Ty Watkins is a stud.   Start to finish it was without question the best entertainment the War Eagles have have presented thus far this season. You’re just a click away from all that!   Enjoy!
