South Forsyth travels to winless Forsyth Central tonight needing a win to stay in the playoff chase. Click here to see how to tune in.
If South Forsyth can get a win tonight at winless Forsyth Central, they’ll likely advance to the opening round field of 32 in the GHSA Class 7A post-season playoffs. The War Eagles sit at # 26 in this week’s mathematically calculated field, so a win would make them 7-3, just like #8 Colquitt County, # 17 South Gwinnett and # 18 Hillgrove. Grayson at # 13 and East Coweta at # 16 are both 5-4 and ahead of South Forsyth. Archer is 5-5 and ranked just in front of the War Eagles at 25.
Denmark, at #21, is the highest ranked Region 6, 7A team. The Danes entertain West Forsyth tonight. Despite their 4 and 5 record, West can win r=Region 6 if they beat the Danes tonight. It’s a winner go home situation for West, like already a tournament game. If West wins, they will be region champs and will send the Danes tumbling. That could endanger South’s position in the top 32, because of Central’s poor record. They don’t have a win, and that means a poor winning percentage. That could hurt South, win or lose. They would be vulnerable, even with the win. So Tune in and enjoy the game, but don’t hold your breath. It could take a few days for the computers to figure out all these math problems. Greg will be From the House, under doctor’s orders. One last thought. South is ranked 26th, 6 spots before the final number 32. If things were to stay the same after tonight, South would travel down to Suwanee to take on 8-1 North Gwinnett. Tonight won’t be an easy one either for the Bulldogs, as they have to travel down the road to take on # 10, seven and two Parkview, with the Region seven title on The line. Greg will be back on Monday with a look at the final 32, as the GHSA playoffs get set to takeoff.
