South Forsyth went into Lambert knowing they had something going on. Sitting at 5 and O for the first time in a decade, region play was about to begin for the 2026 season and South was feeling it. Averaging 30 points a game, Coach James Thomson knew he had the horses. And he was getting consistent contributions from all of them. What he needed to do was keep the penalties to a minimum and avoid the turnovers. The result was a thrilling, memorable contest that saw 11 touchdowns scored between the two teams. And in the end, South finished with the Victory Formation in a 42-35 instant classic at Lambert. The Longhorn Press Box Crew tried to shutdown the scoreboard quickly after the final bell, but somebody in SOFO Nation was pretty quick, and captured this forever shot that should last a year in this intense backyard fence rivalry.
South Forsyth had a chance to run away with it. in the second quarter a long pass to Will Watkins in the endzone was just off his fingertips. A TD there would’ve put South up by 21 points, but that wouldn’t have been entertaining, and fate wanted a show on this Thursday night. South was forced to punt, and Lambert went 75 yards to cut the deficit to 7. But South shook it off and played the second half fearlessly. South 4 star Sophomore quarterback Khayel Sam Fong-Talia continued his MVP worthy play. He has thrown or rushed for 14 TDs in six games. In this one, Fong-Talia completed TDs to both Salt (Carter Ross) and Pepper (Watkins), ran for touchdowns of 44 and 74 yards, and handed the ball to running backs Brayden Hammond (5 yard 3rd qtr TD) and Kingston Herrod (40 yard burst late 4th for the winning score). Part Two. Once this was identifiecd we went to settings and rerouted through our soundboard and adapter and activated our soundboard with our headsets. These are uni-directional mics designed to pick up and focus on what’s right in front of it and reduce ambient noise. Worked like it should the rest of the way. Exciting call, you actually hear Todd start shouting with excitement as the action got more and more intense.
