South Forsyth rode the bat of catcher Ruthie Allen and the arm of pitcher Josie Crossman to a doubleheader sweep of back yard rival Lambert Thursday evening at South’s awesome ball yard. Allen accounted for eight runs on the night, including a grand slam in the opener. Two of the runs in game two were scored on a line shot off the first baseman’s shoulder. It was a difficult chance, scored an error, an unfortunate call especially on the home field. But the runs go to Ruthie cause we all saw the play. Crossman used a nasty slider and owned the outside edge all night for the shutout win. She struck out 7 to add to her dominant evening. The win improves South Forsyth to 11-1-1 and returns them to the top of the Region 6 – 7A standings.

So here you go! Four and a half hours of Lady War Eagle thrills, chills and spills. This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of two distinguished War Eagle parents, Mike Newsome and Shannon Thompson. Mike did a fabulous job as the color analyst, and kept us right on the game’s numbers, scoring the game like he does it all the time (this was his first time). And Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome Shannon to the crew. Shannon was the executive producer of Game One and the intermission. She tapped her inside sources to deliver superb commentary the first game, and used her War Eagle Mom connections to deliver an A-list of guests. I told y’all she’d be good! From Makenna Segal’s Mom to Makenna and Ruthie to her boy, football’s Mitch Thompson, we had the Parade O’ Guests I was after. Thanks to both for a brilliant event.
And of course, thanks to Head Softball Coach Leanne Brooks for letting us get up close to the program. Loved watching you coach third! Can’t wait til next time! Hope Senior Night isn’t washed out. You called it last night for fair weather. Do it again!
