South Forsyth got three more toucxhdowns from Sophomore quarterback Khayel Sam Fong-Talia on runs of 70 and 44 yards and a quick toss to Will Watkins, to top previously unbeaten Centennial 28 – 20 in their home opener Friday night. South’s defense intercepted Knight’s quarterback Landon Brown three times, twice by Sophomore Ethan Owens, who now has five of the team’s ten picks. The D also sacked Brown 4 times, including on the final play to squelch a last minute threat. It’s a good thing, too. When Brown wasn’t getting picked or sacked, he was throwing touchdowns. He thfrew for all three of the Knight’s TDs. The evening began with a soberimg moment as South remembered the victims and heroes of 9/11 with a moment of silence. Todd Spencer, who called the game by himself due to a weather delay, also added some thoughtfrul words on the way we should try to distinguish  memory from history,. The crowed shook it off and were loud and happy with the team’s outstanding effort. Centrennial is the sercond of three straight 5A schools in the middle of South’s schedule. They won at Allatoona and beat Centennial at home. Next up is 5A southsiders Starr’s Mill from Fayetteville. Region play begins the following week with a trip to rival Lambert. HERE’S THE REPLAY!
