South Forsyth opened the 2018 season on the road at Sprayberry and came away with a closer than the score 26-6 victory.  The War Eagles rode he legs of Junior Running Back Jordan Brunson, who had 100 yards barely into the 2nd quarter and ended up with 4 touchdowns.  South built a 13-0 lead and appeared on the way to a romp.  But the Yellow Jackets turned three War Eagle interceptions into 6 points for a a halftime score of 13-6 and the ball coming out of the locker room.  Sprayberry brought a solid scheme in the third quarter, but penalties cost them a touchdown and a missed field goal and the score remained 13-6 well into the 4th.  The Yellow Jackets held on with a goal line stand but couldn’t mount a drive against South’s physical defense.  A late 90+ yard td drive and score off a turnover finally provided the War Eagles some breathing room late.  Sprayberry (0-1) will have to regroup before their next game, a road trip across Marietta to Wheeler.  South Forsyth will hit the road once again for the daunting task of taking on defending Georgia 4A state champs Blessed Trinity.  Catch Greg Golden and Doug Thomas with the entertaining replay here, and see if the powers that be towed Greg’s car from his spot next to the visiting stands or not.  (They got home, so it looks like a successful negotiation took place.)
