The South Forsyth varsity looked like what everybvody expected on the first time out, hesitant and mistake prone, against an East Forsyth squad that didn’t. Although the team is replacing everybody, that kid, Brock Sczakacs, pronounced Sac-ass they told us in the booth, is one of the better quaarterbacks we’ll see this year. East used a dominant running game to score and to set up the Big Play for scores. Although the scorekeeper took the scores off the board at halftime, everybody knew East was up 28-0. The War Eagles were only lacking confidence. They’ll face a team that missed the playoffs last year like they did when North Springs visits War Eagle Stadium Friday night for the second of two preseason scrimmages. If you want to get straight to the highlight of the evening for SOFO fans skip ahead to the 4th quarter. The intensity difference between the varsity and the frosh was evident from the moment they stepped on the field.

Above is the replay of the contest featuring play by play from me for the first time in a year, and I’m extremely happy to be back.. I am now a year into kidney dialysis at noon on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and despite some occasional drama I am pretty consistent now as far as my numbers. I hope to give hope to anybody in a tough situation like this and show that yes, you can still have an active and rewarding life until your destiny calls. Doug Thomas will be an analyst on road games, where his binoculars are huge. This goes along with his duties as the War Eagle’s stadium announcer, so he joined me on the call, as did Mike Newsome. Mike will be my trainer helping me get up and down stadium steps and getting our gear into position at home and on the road. I think the three man team will be an awesome addition in our coverage of South Forsyth on the road. Also, our change in a Web host.had us sounding better than ever.
Three of us at the game with three phones and we didn’t get any pics. That will change. It was a beautiful evening and a terrific atmosphere at Forsyth County’s newest High School. Meany thanks to Athletic Director Matt Hollis and the East Forsyth press box crew for the great experience in our first trip there.
