Appalachian State offensive guard Colby Gossett was selected today in the sixth round of the National Football League draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Gossett, who played his High School ball at North Forsyth High, becomes the first football player from Forsyth County, Georgia, to ever be drafted by the League. It’s quite an accomplishment and sets the bar high for a county growing by leaps and bounds and competes at the highest level in the state. Congratulations Colby. Best wishes from all of us in Forsyth County. You’re in a good spot, because the new Vikings quarterback, Kirk Cousins, will need all the protection he can get to live up to his elite free agent contract.
From a Raider to a Viking. Via the mountains. Should fit in nicely. If you question whether Gossett has a chance to excell as just a sixth round pick, remember that the GOAT, Tom Brady, was selected in the sixth round in 2000.
This is also a good chance to announce that Forsyth Sports 365 will debut its look at Spring Football around the county this coming week. We’ll have exclusive 15-20 minute interview podcasts with every head coach. That’s like a hundred times more you’ll get from us than from any fishwrapper in our area. So look for it and enjoy!
