All the points came in the first half. Zero in the second.

The defending Class 7A State Champion Milton Eagles played like it Friday night, handing South Forsyth their first region loss 24-7. The loss was painful in more ways than one, with three players helped off the field with leg injuries, including starting running back Tre Green on the War Eagles’ first offensive play of the game. Green did not return.

All the points in this contest were scored in the first half, with the halftime score becoming the final. Milton Sophomore quarterback Devin Ferrell, an emerging star at the position, led an Eagles offense that confused the South defense with multiple formations and misdirection. South Forsyth’s lone touchdown was a beauty, a 78 yard bomb on a perfect toss from Joe Slott to a streaking Colby Cruz down the War Eagle sideline. With the win, the Eagles get a talon up on the War Eagles in the chase for the Region 5 7A crown. Milton improves to 4-3 on the season, 2-0 in Region 5 7A. South Forsyth falls to 4-3 on the year, 1-1 in Region 5 7A.
