The quotee above was uttered by a fan to his pal as the stands were clearing in the 4th quarter. It looked like South was tring to stop a herd of horses. Indeed, Campbell promised fans in its preseason preview that they would improve on their 3-8 record from last season, and the results so far back up the claim. South Forsyth scored first with a 76 yard over the top touchdown pass from Will Watkins to Oliver Stark and kept Campbell scoreless until early in the secnd quarter. But a Watkins interception with just over two minutes left in the gave Campbell then ball. On the next possession facing a third and thirty-six in their own red zone, Campbell unveiled a perfectly executed reverse. South was in an aggressive posture on D, with no deep safety, and that wss all she wrote. Campbell missed the point after to go up 13-7. South got the ball with a little more than a minute left smand went three and out and had to punt from deep in their end. The Spartans got the ball near midfield. They ran once for a first down to the South 46. Next play was a 46 yard td run. Campbell took a 20-7 lead to the locker room. They would make up for it in the second half with a successful two pointer which helped them finish the night with the divisible by 7 score of 48 to South’s still 7. Campbell ended up, by our estimation without a spotter, with close to 400 yards rushing. They rushed for 280 yards on just 4 plays. Injury was added to insult wjen Senior defender Rhett Belue left the game late in the first half with what his Dad Buck posted on X is a fractured fibula. If it heals quickly he could be back in action after about a month. . Coach Troy Morris said he would have more for us in the next Coches Corner intervew which we’ll record Wednesday at the Fieldhouse.

This photo is so good I had to put it in twice. Me and Mike.

War Eagle Stadium was on fire early and through the first 28 minutes. In addition to the crowd there were 250 middle school band kids on hand for the halftime show. And presumably their parents. This recording captures that through our field mic and some stills that are included. I am only getting around to posting this so late because I didnt want a shadow over the weekend for SOFO fans Now you’ve got a couple quiet nights to find a dark corner and face the music. And that means the South Forsyth Marching Band’s superb halftime performance, captured for you by our sound engineer, me. . It’s pretty easy to get that far into the podcast before listening to the rumble of the herd in the second half.

Here’s the link to the replay.
