When Derrick Richemond graduated from Forsyth Central High a few years ago, he knew what he wanted to do. He just didn’t know how quickly and how close to home his dream would commence. By 2021 he became a beat freporter at his hometown paper, and soon they were asking him to cover sporting events. Today, just a few hotdogs past the 4th of July, Derrick and his Sports Editor and partner Nick Sullivan are putting together the 2026 edition of the Forsyth County News’ Prep Football Preview. Always a delightful guest who is happy to give a little time for promotional opportunities, Derrick sat down with Forsyth Sports 365’s Greg Golden for a look at the phenomenal effort it takes to pull this off. There are 9 football playing High Schools in Forsyth County, GA. Six, dubbed by Greg the Forsyth Six, will compete for the GHSA Regilon 7 AAAAAA crown. (Editor’s Note:If I was a member of the GHSA Board I would have fought for our region to be #6 so we could call it “the Doomsday Region” – 6 teams from 6A in Region 6 – but I guess that’s why I’m not on the GHSA board,)
Don’t look for bylines, Nick and Derrick share everything including headlines. The articles are credited to FCN Sports Staff. Derrick is always a great radio guest. He’ll never be caught without something to say. In this piece he gave us so much we had to split it in two. It’s much easier to load that way.
