The weather held, the captains met, the teams took the field. But only one had a better game plan. Denmark shut down South Forsyth’s vaunted sophomore quarterback Khayle, Sam Fong – Talia, both on the ground and through the air. It took home a well fought and well planned 28 – 14 victory over the War Eagles. I improvrd the Danes to 4-3 on the season, and put thm all alone atop the ccounty’s 7A leaderboard. It was also Denmark’s sixth victory in seven games over South Forsyth since the teams being playing in the top class in the state in 2020. South’s only win was in 2022, a 10 to 3 victory over the Danes. South actually made it exciting with a couple of touchdowns to narrow the gap to one score 21 – 14, but a late run by quarterback issued a final heartbreak and final score of 28 – 14. It’s going to be tough to listen to, but it was a pretty fair game by our boys. The weather held out through most of the first half. The second half was done in misty conditions, and there were some fumbles and interceptions and balls tipped and the whole 9 yards there, but it was wet for both teams and Denmark managed it maybe a little better. Denmark improves to 2 – 0 in Region 6, 7A, South falls to 1 and1, tied with North Forsyth, their opponent, next week at home, and with West Forsyth, their opponent, in two weeks at home, and then Forsyth Central brings up the the rear at O and two. South closes the season at the new stadium at Central. Anyway, here’s your replay. Todd Spencer and Doug Thomas had a great call opening with the national anthem and having terrific balance and a great presence the rest of the way. These guys are starting to get into a groove. Developing a little rhythm and working well together. Greg sends regrets that he can’t be there all the time, but says trust him he is there every second of every podcast from start to finish and he’s putting together these lovely posts that include replays and coaches corners and the whole 9 yards. The plan right now is for Greg to join the coaches and Doug Thomas at our Coaches Corner coming up Wednesday. We’llhave that posted by Wednesday evening, and hopefully Greg will be back on set for that one. The plane is also on Friday to welcome North Forsyth and former head coach Troy Morris, who is the offensive coordinator now for the Raiders, to War Eagle Stadium. Also expected to be on hand will be the lovely and talented Cindy Watkins and her sister Mary, who are in town for the game with their dad, the Rascally Coach Kegley. We hope to have him on, although he’s been a little shy in the past. But our broadcast position, if I have my way, will be down on the track, and we should be able to accommodate him without him having to climb 1000 stairs, which is what I have a problem with. At any rate, we’re looking forward to a big time and a game that quite frankly becomes a must win, because there’s only five to decide the region, so make sure you tune in. We’ll have Todd Spencer do the play-by-play again, and I’ll be on color. Doug Thomas will be announcing from the stadium press box, the stadium mic. That’s what’s on tap for the next week. Thanks for listening to the replay. Todd and Doug did a great job. We got everything but the win. And of course, I must mention our associate producer, Briigitte Spencer, who has provided us with a deluge of wonderful photographs from a good night for football over at Denmark Stadium.
