Believe it or not, we are within a month of the start of the 2023 Georgia High School Football Season. Time flies, right? It’s heating up in Forsyth County, and once again we are proud to be the internet radio home of the South Forsyth High War Eagles. South begins its season in two weeks, August 11th, at the corner of Peachtree Parkway and Ronald Reagan, when they host the Shiloh High Raiders in a scrimmage. Then it’s the season opener the next week, August 18th, across the river at Lanier.
That means it’s time for our first Coaches Corner of 2023, and we’ve got a full house for you. I was feeling a bit under the weather, and didn’t want to bring the crud anywhere, so I recorded from my home studio. Doug Thomas handled the bulk of the interview and asked all hs wiestions, plus all the questions I had sketched up. It’s his phone and he did an excellent job keeping it in front of our subjects: Head Coach Troy Morris, Offensive Coordinator Heath Hover (did I mention he’ll be calling the plays this year?), Defensive Coordinator Jeff Arnette, and Special Teams Coordinator Chris Aycock. The whole thing is 40 minutes, but I had to split it in two to upload it. We really covered it all, without naming names. And that would have made it another thirty minutes. Between attrition and graduation there are lots of opportunities for playing time.
