USGA Region 6 – 7A standings week 6

South Forsyth 5-0 (0-0) Defeated Duluth, Cherokee, and Allatoona, all on the road. Centennial went down in the nome opener, and then Starr’s Mill at Homecoming. Up next: at Lambert THURSDAY NIGHT! 7:30 pm. Tune in and see how the Longhorns taste with a little SOFO Saltnpeppah. Todd Spencer and Doug Thomas on the call from Longhorn Stadium.

North Forsyth 3 – 2 (0-0) Lost to Jackson County and Archer, then won 3 in a row over Dacula, Campbell, and 35-14 over Norcross at Norcross. (REALLY!) (NO REALLY!) Friday Home vs West Forsyth.

Denmark 2-3 (0-0) Lost to Sequoia 36-7, then beat Alpharetta and Campbell. But have now dropped their last two, to Cambridge and Peachtree Ridge, both on the road. The Danes are a game ahead of last year, when they went 1-4 in their first five, the worst start in the school’s short history. Friday at Forsyth Central.

Lambert 2-3 (0-0) Lost to Peachtree Ridge and Sequoyah, then went all the way down to Tifton and beat Tift County by two TDs. Came home and got thumped by Blessed Trinity, then thumped Lanier 38-0. Which Lambert team gonna show up? No matter, Saltnpepper gonna season ’em up. Thurs vs SOFO. 7:30 pm right here.

West Forsyth 1-4 (0-0) The Wolverines are suffering the graduated class that was the Forsyth County Middle School Champions their 8th grade year at Liberty. They got torched by Houston County, then came home to beat Norcross. Now they’ve lost three in a row…to Lanier by 18, and then Cartersville and Parkview bombed them by 30 and 40 points. Injuries and growing pains on Kelly Mill. Next at North Forsyth.

Forsyth Central 0-5 (0-0) Even trhe return of Durham Roach and Maverick Jones can’t prevent the slide. The Dogs have lost to Creekview, Pope and Chattahoochee in close ones, then losses to Veteran’s and Cherokee Bluff, where Central scored just six points in each game. That beautiful new stadium needs to look at it’s accompanying weight room. Friday Home vs Denmark.

Out of all the games I’ve called, there is a special one from Lambert Stadium’s awesome press box that always makes me smile. Back in our first year, 2015, I was calling a middle school game, Riverwacth was hosting Vickery at Longhorn Stadium in a big game down the tretch. Vickery came to play that year and got out to a three touchdown lead in the third quarter. In the 2nd quarter this kid shows up, an 8th grader from Riverwatch. I wish I could femember his name. But he was interested in what I was doing, so he hung around. We talked about this and that. And about the game. While we chatted (In between the play calls), Riverwatch mounted a comeback. They got it to within 6 and forced a punt with a minute and a half to go. As I got ready to go back to the call, I looked at him and asked, “Does the Watch have a chance here?” “Is there any time left on the clock?” he asked? “Yeah bout a buck and a half” I said. “OK” he says, “Yeah, they got a chance”. Sadly, they couldn’t finish. Vickery went on to the playoffs and lost in the title game to the North Forsyth Middle School Wildcat team that featured Nikki Dalmolin.
