Bad weather and technical difficulties caused by poor 5G coverage in the area wreaked Havoc on the first third of our podcast.  But I finally got us on a tower that held our signal and opened the full bandwidth and we were on our way. Campbell opened the game by fumbling the opening kickoff, which South recovered at the 12 yard line. Three plays later Will Watkins ran around left end and Campbell was down 7-0.

South would add a field goal, the Spartans would score a touchdown on a 70 yard four play drive when we came about with a strong signal and we pick it up from there.

Before you get into the replay, I need to say a word abot the comunity around Campbell Hgh School. I’ve called football games all around north Georgia, but from the minute we arrived at the school I noticed something different. There wasn’t a bunch of kids over here and adults over there. There was people of all ages everywhere helping each other with all the little tasks. Doug hooked us up with a new hire from Kennesaw State, who grabbed a little jeep and got us to the bleacher steps. He helped get the equipment up while Doug helped me manage my way up the ancient cement steps. Once inside the atmosphere was cool but the windows were blurry We left them open to where Doug and his binoculars had the clear view. The game got underway and Campbell’s size eventually wore down the SOFO squad. Tough loss for sure. But the most remarkable thing happened on the way down . I guess our friend Tony the young teacher got on his phone and there were a couple dozen people lining the steps down to the rail and over to the jeep, offering an arm or a hand or just a warm “you doin great!” as I worked my way down the wet steps and carefully gripped the slippery handrails. A couple of young 9th graders went the whole way just holding on to my shirt. God bless you sir, they said as I got into the jeep. Doug was amazing working my safety belt, but even when we got to the car there were people offering to lend a hand to get me the final few feet into the car. I just wanted to compliment the Campbell community who were fully engaged in the evening. And I let a couple of coaches know I’ll be pulling for them when they play McEachern in a couple of weeks. Now onto the replay.  NOTE:  Pull the cursor forward to @ 11:30 where we finally connect.
