WELL GO LIVE FRIDAY NIGHT IN THE ARENA AT SOUTH FORSYTH AS THE RED HOT WAR EAGLES HOST REGION 6  7A RIVAL NORTH FORSYTH!

Yes!  South Forsyth basketball will go live right here Friday Night as the Raiders from North Forsyth bring their squad for some round ball action vs the War Eagles.

Below we’ve got interviews with both Girls Head Coach and SOFO AD Keith Gravitt, and Boys Head Coach Scott Givens.  These chats were recorded last Friday ahead of the important Region 6 – 7A double header against Gainesville and the Saturday home DH vs an always dangerous Hawks from Hillgrove.   The idea was to announce our live call for Friday night, both boys and girls, in the huge tilt with North Forsyth, and to tone the interview towards the teams achievements so far.  So here are the chats with the coaches, and then the weekend wrap from yours truly.  First up, South Forsyth Girl’s Basketball Coach/Athletic Director Keith Gravitt.   Believe it or not, this is our first real interview with him.  I’m sure it won’t be our last.  Since we’ve covered South’s football program exclusively for the past three years, Coach Gravitt has preferred to leave the attention to the recently retired Coach Arnette.   But this fall we broke ground calling a DH vs Lambert with Coach LeAnn Brooks’ Softball team.   We had a great time, brought some girls sports to the program for the first time, and Coach Gravitt knew we were coming for girl’s basketball.   He also knew his time was up.  Here’s Coach Gravitt, joining me in this basketball exclusive Coaches Corner recorded Friday morning.

Coach Gravitt working hard

On the Boy’s side, the effort and results have been spectacularly similar.  The team started the season waiting for a couple of guys to finish football, but they didn’t languish.   Turning stingy defense into a run and gun offense, the boys played like the ball was on fire and the only way to douse it was to swish it.  Over and over and over again.  Head Boy’s Coach Scott Givens is thrilled to bring a little size back and the resulting balance is hoopstastic!   Here’s Coach Givens exclusive Coach’s Corner interview with me recorded Friday morning.  Again, we’ll have an update right after this audio as we head to our LIVE HOOPS GIRL/BOY DOUBLEHEADER RIGHT HERE FRIDAY NIGHT JANUARY 10th starting @ 6p.

Coach Givens working hard!

We knew there were two big games for the teams ahead of them following these interviews.  Actually, the teams were coming off some impressive wins vs North Gwinnett that showed their talents.  We talked about that as you heard   What’s happened since might leave you panting for more.
Friday Night hoops at Gainesville might see most teams getting off the bus at the city limit sign    Not the War Eagles    They charged into the Red Elephants’ gym and swept both games:  the Lady War Eagles 52-48 and the Boys in an OT thriller 73-70.  Then the next night, in the Arena,  they swept the Hawks from Hillgrove.   Girls 46-36 and Boys 52-41.   Yeah, that same Hillgrove team from the basketball Mecca, a couple miles from McEachern.  They won like they’ve won all season, with great defense from quick hands and solid presence in the paint, and then the plus of nearly 60% from the floor from their shooters.

The Girls improved to 15-2,    4-1 in Region 6-7A, trailing undefeated, wait for it…North Forsyth, who they play Friday night in our girl/boy doubleheader here on FS365.  The Boys improve to 14-3. They lead the Region 6-7A pack at 4-1.  There’s one more tilt for the guys vs Kings Ridge Christian School midweek before our LIVE podcast Friday night in the Arena vs North Forsyth, and I’m looking forward to it as much as you!   These two teams are ballin sumpin’ fierce.  Happy to bring some righteous hoops to War Eagle fans like we promised.    Don’t worry, we’ll remind you!

Thanks as always for joining us on Forsyth Sports 365!!
