South Forsyth had the homefield advantage. They had just come off a bye week, which followed a tough loss at Denmark. in a region contest that left them one and one. North Forsyth, their opponent, had been through an up-and-down season and also sat at one and one in the region. It was the annual Civil War., North versus South, and one of North Georgia’s most outstanding rivalries. North Forsyth knew that it sat near the end of the 32 team bracket that would get them into the postseason. A loss here would’ve probably shut them out. They knew they had to have the win. And they got it. It was a thrilling contest back-and-forth, full of turnovers and big plays. North had to take one of the 2 salt and pepper receivers out of the game to help keep things even. That Was senior Carter Ross, who was held to 50 yards below his season average and no scores. But they made up for it with Will Watkins and passes to the running backs. In the end, North had the football on their own 25 with a minute and a half remaining in regulation. In a drive called by North Offensive Coordinator Troy Morris, the former Head Coach at South, the Raiders went to work. Quarterback Jason Bourque hit on Back to back x2 sideline passes to Cash Martin and Ethan Cahill, and a couple first down conversions by Fabiano Pinto (who also rushed for nearly 150 yards), put North on the South 7 yard line with 5 seconds left. The next play will add to the legend of this rivalry, and our call is right here in the replay. Special mentions to Kingston Herrod and Braydon Hammond, who bailed out qb Khayel Sam Fong-Talia, as receivers. Also to soph linebacker Ishaan Veeraneni, who has worked his way onto the leaboard of most tackles per game in Region 6.

The midgets gave us a sensational halftime show.

Both teams showed up to play.

It was a pleasant afternoon, then the unexpected rains came. Todd was not going to let the showers win.

Then it got cold and windy. But the crowd was undeterred. North fans filled out the visitors’ side like War Eagle Stadium hasnt seen in a while.

All in all a tough loss for South, but a season saving win for North, and a great look for Region 6, 7A football. The call is pretty good, too, I might add.
