Blessed Trinity came into the Nest at South Forsyth riding a 22 game winning streak featuring back to back state championships and the #1 rank in Class 4A. But the War Eagles were confident, and they played the Titans to a dead heat in a 7 to 7 first half. For the second week in a row, however, South had difficulty in the third quarter. Turnovers. Penalties. The loud and proud crowd blinked twice, and BT suddenly held a 34-7 lead. Game over.
But wait. Not so fast my friends. With less than ten minutes left in regulation, South Forsyth found something deep inside, recovering an onside kick and a defensive stop to keep the ball and score three straight touchdowns and the two point conversions to close the gap to three, 34-31.
Then, with five seconds to go, the War Eagles appeared to have recovered another on-side kick. But the officials got in the way and ruined it for everybody.
Still, these young men from South Forsyth never quit, and proved once again that it ain’t over til it’s over. Don’t believe me? Listen to the replay here. It’s all in there.
