Lightning affected all five Forsyth County schools’ football games Friday night. Only four counted, and one was decided at the half. That one was our featured game. Pace Academy, the top ranked Class 3A team out of Buckhead, scored off a turnover and took the ball 75 yards on a change of possession with under two minutes to go in the first half to top 7A home team West Forsyth 20-10 at the Den. It was an exciting half of football, though, and we’ve got it right here for you. Greg Golden, Rich Golden, and the newest voice on Forsyth Sports 365, Jon Benson, bring you the call with the first three man team in 365 history.

In other FOCO action, Pinecrest Academy finally got its match with neighbor South Forsyth and showed that the 1A private school still has a way to go to keep pace with the 7A team. South went up 31-0 at halftime, and after a two hour lightning delay Pinecrest agreed to finish the game. Props to them for guts but the final was 51-0.
Forsyth Central’s game vs Dawson County was called a wash as lightning forced cancellation before the half. The game was declared a no contest and will not appear on either team’s record. In new Head Coach Frank Hoeppler’s debut, the Bulldogs trailed 14-9 at the time play was halted in the second quarter.
North Forsyth hoped to open their season at 2-0, but a valiant effort and lightning delay ended in a 28-21 road loss to the Gladiators at Johns Creek’s Coliseum.
And a late Lambert drive stalled at the goalline as time ran out, allowing Mountain View to escape with a 28-24 win in Lawrenceville. The game was completed after a 90 minute lightning delay.
