The Boys Basketball teams of Forsyth County’s four Class AAAAAA High Schools put on quite a show for their fans Thursday during the quarterfinals of the Region 6 basketball tournament at Lambert High. In the first of three games podcast live on Forsyth Sports 365, #6 seed South Forsyth overcame an athletic and determined #3 seed Centennial squad to win 60-55 and advance to tonight’s 5:30 semi-final game against #2 seed John’s Creek. In the second quarterfinal game, #5 seed North Forsyth battled back from a 14 point defecit to get within two of 4th seed Alpharetta before the Pirates hit a string of free throws to pull out a 62-57 win and advance to tonight’s 8:30 semi-final against top seed Lambert. Both North and South showed terrific guts and determination. Listen to the REPLY of these two thrilling contests here. Click along the timeline. South’s game is first up, there is a fifteen minute intermission between the games.
The last time Lambert and West Forsyth hooked up it was not pretty. Lambert toyed with the Wolverines and left the Den with a 40+ point victory. But this is tourney time, and the Wolverines, fresh off an upset of Northview Monday night, were determined to shoew the Longhorns what it was all about. The Wolverines hung close all game, getting within one point twice, but Lambert’s fine forward Conner Mannion hit 11 of 12 free throws down the stretch to pull out a hard earned 61-55 victory over the pesky west siders. Lambert, undefeated in the Region during the regular season, moves into the semi-finals to play Alpharetta in the 8:30 game tonight. We’ll have the call for you live here on Forsyth Sports 365.
